Pip n Jay Winter Project

Pip n Jay Church thanks everyone who helped raised £16,251 in November. We did this to help our partners, The Good News Church in Constanta, Romania, to provide hot meals and food parcels to the most vulnerable in the area during the coldest ten weeks of winter.

Conditions are harsh for many of the poor and elderly in Constanta. There are children and elderly people living on the streets or in poor quality housing. During the winter, temperatures will reach around minus 20 degrees Celcius. Without our help, some will die.

The local church is active in engaging and serving the community. Based in the Heart to Heart Centre, church members will prepare 160 hot meals and 80 food parcels a week at a cost of nearly £5,000 this winter.

They also face the challenge of transporting food from supermarkets to the Centre, and from there to family homes. For this they require a minibus which will cost around £6,000.

We more than met our giving target, and the money will make a life-saving difference. On top of winter food and a good quality minibus, the church will be able to fund its ministry for a good time into 2013.

Look out for more chances to partner with this and similar churches in practical ways throughout 2013.
