The Aim

To provide a channel through which the family at Pip ‘n’ Jay can access help, both practical and spiritual. In this way we hope to bless the church family and be a witness for Jesus. In John 13:35 Jesus says, ‘All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.’

Why do we need a pastoral care group?

Some people are wonderfully cared for by their friends or the church group that they belong to but others are not in a group so may miss out on the support they need.

What is the pastoral care group?

A referral point for pastoral care, so that it is accessible to anyone needing help, support or advice.

Who are in the group?

So far . . . Gill Haskett, Cilla Weir, Adrian Sampson, Clive & Sally Wright, Paul Wilson

How will it work?

  • When there is a need, you can speak to any member of the pastoral care group and hopefully they will be able to point you in the right direction.
  • We will be linked with other church groups i.e. prayer ministry, house groups etc
  • Gather names of people who can offer help.

What needs could be met?

PRACTICAL

  • Cooking meals
  • Providing cakes
  • Home or hospital visiting
  • Giving lifts
  • Baby sitting for church events etc
  • Gardening
  • Financial advice
  • Referral information i.e. debt crisis/ counselling etc

SPIRITUAL

  • Someone to listen: ‘coming along side’ people in times of trouble
  • Someone to pray with
  • Someone to talk with: being able to discuss the issues they are facing – not necessarily having the answers but being robust enough to allow the suffering person to ask difficult questions

We can all be involved in caring

This is not about signing up for yet more responsibilities or time commitments. As a church body we have many gifts; each person is able to do something unique. Please let us know if you have a skill or gift that you believe God wants you to use — occasionally!

For more details contact Gill Haskett or Cilla Weir.
