Rachael Wright interviews Annette Weekes regarding Soul Sista, a meeting for women one Saturday a month from 10-11:30 am in the Church Lounge
Why did you start going to Soul Sista?
I first starting going to Soul Sista from its conception when Susan Webber started it a couple of years ago. I was a new Christian at Pip n Jay and was not yet a member of a house group. As I didn’t really know many Christians at that time I thought it was a good opportunity to get involved and make some new friends.
What happens at a typical meeting?
I am not sure if there is a typical meeting each one is different. Different people attend each meeting and we get to share Christian and women’s issues together. We have covered the Lost Women of the Bible, which was very thought provoking and we have had several really good topical speakers. And of course there is always lovely food to share.
Who are the meetings for?
The meetings are aimed at all women within the church. It is ideal if you are working and unable to attend the weekday meeting, but also if you’re a mother you can leave the children with your husband, meaning he gets quality time with the children and you get quality time with your fellow sisters. There is always a wide age range of women at each meeting which is good.
Which meeting have you enjoyed most - so far?
I have enjoyed all the meetings I have attended but my favourite meeting was the last Christmas one when we made Christmas Wreaths and ate mince pies.
What could people expect to get out of Soul Sista?
It’s a good quality time for sisters to share experiences and learn more about God in an friendly atmosphere. I always come away with lots to think about and feeling revived.
