SeedsPip n Jay has a generous bunch of people who give money to support the work of the church and others around the world. If you've ever been to a church you probably remember collection plates, but you might not know that Pip n Jay has been giving away more than half of the money it raises every year for over 30 years.

So what happens to this money, and how do people give?

Church treasurer John Harrison writes:

The main areas of expenditure are gifts to support missionaries who are linked with the church. In addition, Pip n Jay pays for staff salaries, contributions to the diocese (our local area of the Church of England), general bills such as utilities, and for the upkeep of the building.

Giving to the church

There are two main ways in which people can contribute financially to the work of Pip n Jay:

Through the offering: By putting cash or a cheque into the offering plate which is passed around the congregation during a song at each service

Through standing order: By setting up a monthly standing order directly from your account into the church’s bank account. If you want to set up a standing order please contact the Treasurer who can provide you with the necessary details.

Gift Aid

As a registered charity, the church can claim Gift Aid on identifiable gifts made by UK tax-payers.

If you would like the church to be able to claim Gift Aid on gifts that you make, please contact the Treasurer or Natalie Berry, our Gift Aid officer.

Money given by cheque or standing order is identifiable; cash put into the offering is not, unless it is in a Gift Aid envelope. These are numbered envelopes, so the gift is anonymous except to the Treasurer and Gift Aid officer, but they can trace it to the donor, and therefore still claim the Gift Aid. So if you're registered for Gift Aid giving, it's a good idea to get some envelopes from the Treasurer.
