We've been making some thought provoking videos for counting down to Christmas - what is it really about for us? What do you think?
Christmas 2011 at Pip n Jay Church
We are excited about this year's preparations for Christmas - and we've now got a dedicated Christmas website to host it all!
Here is some of what will be happening around Pip n Jay...
Every day from December 1st - you can count down to Christmas with our church "Advent Calendar" by email or on our website. Every day we will share something about how we are getting excited about Christmas, and you'll find out about presents and surprises we're giving away around town if you join the "Advent Calendar" mailing list here.
In January, we sent out an appeal letter regarding the money needed to do urgent conservation to the tower asking you to pledge or donate towards the work. The repairs will cost £140,000 and with money we already had from our own building fund and a grant from English Heritage there was still a shortfall of some £40,000. We need your urgent prayers and consideration for giving to help with this.
Pip n Jay is a growing community. If you're new, it can feel like it takes a while to recognise and get to know people. The people who have been in Pip n Jay for a while would love to get to know you better.
So we now have a new Facebook group for "Bristol Pip n Jayers". You're welcome to join if you'd like to get to see who everyone is and keep in touch with occasional invites to local events. If you are a regular here, we'd encourage you to use this group to send general invites out if you're planning a film night, BBQ, etc. Although there are a lot of people on there, experience shows you won't get overwhelming numbers responding to your invites, but you may just get the occasional new person whose email address you didn't have. It's a great way to build some new friendships. The link to our group is here and on the left hand side of every page on this website.
You'll notice we also have a group for "Global Pip n Jayers" - this is a group we've had up for a while to keep in touch with people who used to call Pip n Jay their home church, but have now travelled away - some a very long way! If you're wanting to keep up contacts with people far away, or re-live memories of Pip n Jay's past, this is a great group for that.
You might have noticed a new "SHARE" button on each article on the site. Its job is to help you share articles you like with your friends, and you can choose how.
For example, you can choose to post a link to the article on your Facebook page, if you have one. Alternatively, you can choose "email" and send a message to people you think will like what you have been reading.
Why is this a good idea? For one thing, we hope you find stories on this site which are worth reading and sharing. There is another benefit too - the more links people post to pipnjay.org, the easier it is for people looking for things we write about to find us. Not only will we be visible in the places you choose to share us, but our visibility in Google and other search engines will rise too. Being more visible helps people find us, and as we are only here to point people to Jesus, it's helping our mission too.
So share what you like - and thanks in advance for helping!
PS - If there are things you would like to see on the website which aren't here yet, or stuff you want more of, please let me know!
